MAGIC OF A BAG
There was a soldier Vladimir by name.He retired from service when he was quite young and healthy.He was very anxious for his old parents.So,he started for home to live with them.
The way was long.Vladimir went on and on.Days and month passed by.His food was running short.One day he was going to eat his last piece of bread.At that time a old beggar came and said,''I have not eaten anything for two days.Please,give me some food and save my life.''Vladimir felt pity for him.He gave him the bread,he was just going to eat.May God bless you,said the beggar and went away.
That day,Vladimir had to pass his night in a house where nobody lived.It was the haunting place of the devils.They came at about midnight and said,Get ready,O young man.We will kill you.''O you can do it.But I have a wish!said he''We shall fulfill your last wish,''said they''I have heard,you may become very big or small in size,as you like,can you?said he.
O, it's a very easy thing,''said they in one voice.
''can all of you enter this small bag at the same time?asked he.
''O,we can,''said they,will you see this?
Then come along and show me this,''So saying he held the bag before them with it's mouth open.
All the devils grew very small in size and rushed into the bag.Vladimir was looking for this opportunity.He at once tied the mouth of the bag tightly with a rope.He then laid it on the floor and held knot of the tie in his fist.
Next morning,Vladimir went to the shop of black-smith with,the bag.
Here are all the devils of the haunted house,''said he'' please,hammer it with all your might and teach them a good lesson.
The smith took the bag and began to hit it with a big hammer.The devils began to cry and request him to stop.But the smith did not pay heed to them.He went on hitting and the crying sound grew and fainter and fainter.
Vladimir stopped the smith and said to the devils,will you do any more harm to the people?
No,no,we will do no harm,said the devils,Please,set us free;We promise,we shall leave the country for ever and give you a wonderful things.
Vladimir set all the devils free except the leader and said,Leave the country at once.Only one of you will bring me wonderful thing.'' All devils ran away and left the country.A little devil came back within a short while.He gave an empty bag to Vladimir and said,You will find in it whatever you wish to come in it.
Vladimir held the bag with it's mouth open and said come in food and drink for the people present here.So saying,he looked into the bag and found sufficient food and drink in it.He distribute the food and the drink among the people.The owner of the house was very pleased.He wished to reward Vladimir.But Vladimir said a smile,Well,I'm a Russian.A Russian dose not accept any reward for a beneficial work.''Saying this,he bade good bye to all and started his journey again.
Vladimir walked on and on.Days and months passed by.At last after a long journey,he reached his sweet home.But alas!his father was longer on earth.His old mother embraced him with tears if joy and sorrow in her eyes.
One day Vladimir wished some gold to came in his bag and gold came.He sold the gold and got some money.With the money,he made a good house and bought a few acres of land.He then married a beautiful girl and began to live a happy life.
